Aging issues are many, severe and diverse. They range from the financial to the social to the physical and beyond. Aging issues are too many and too big for one person or one entity to address alone. But together, we can make a difference.

I once saw this episode of Sliders (a science fiction tv series that was WAY ahead of it’s time), in which the elite population lived INSIDE of a shopping mall. The idea was that the employees were also residents of this lovely shopping mall and all of it’s amenities. They were paid a modest wage, and their employment included free room and board. Imagine, going to Mrs. Fields’ and having cookies baked to order from a grandmother that put a touch of real love in each cookie. What do you think?
I think your comment about that tv show where seniors live in a shopping mall is crazy, but definitely touches on some key issues. Seniors definitely need to be offered opportunities like any other age demographic. The fact that they are able to work and be part of a ‘community’ in that sci-fi show are definitely positives. Just because someone gets old doesn’t mean that they shouldn’t have a great sense of purpose and community.
